About Us

At Driveways Brentwood, we design and build premium resin-bound, block paving, imprinted concrete, tarmac and shingle driveways, along with stylish porcelain patios for homes across Brentwood, Shenfield, Hutton, Warley and the surrounding villages. Every project is tailored to your property’s architecture, access and parking needs, balancing everyday practicality with long-term performance and kerb appeal.

How we work

We begin with a thorough consultation and site survey, taking levels, checking utilities, assessing soil conditions and access, and discussing the layout that best serves your parking and turning requirements, including details such as bin and EV-charger placement and edging styles. From there, we present clear design options with material and colour choices, laying patterns and sample boards, together with a written specification that sets out the sub-base build-up, SuDS-aware drainage strategy and final finish.

During construction, a dedicated lead installer oversees groundworks, sequencing and daily quality checks, ensuring precise levels, tidy edges and a clean, considerate site throughout. When the work is complete, we walk you through the result, explain simple maintenance routines and provide aftercare notes—standing behind our workmanship so your driveway or patio continues to look its best for years to come.

Engineered for durability

Every Driveways Brentwood build starts with correctly profiled excavation and a sub-base designed for strength. We install MOT Type 1 for most projects—or Type 3 where a permeable system is specified—and compact in controlled layers to achieve reliable CBR performance. To stabilise the structure and keep it clean over time, we incorporate geotextile membranes that limit fines migration, reduce pumping and discourage weed ingress. Edges are secured with robust kerbs, steel restraints or granite setts so the surface stays locked in place and the lines remain crisp.

The surface you choose is then built to its own best-practice specification. Resin-bound systems use UV-stable binders, calibrated aggregates and precise mix ratios with the right curing window. Block paving is laid on an even bedding layer, jointed with kiln-dried sand and plate-compacted to lock the blocks. Imprinted concrete is formed over a properly prepared base—with reinforcement where specified—then accurately stamped and sealed with high-quality coatings. Tarmac installations receive binder and surface courses at the correct temperatures with clean joints and neat tie-ins. Porcelain patios are primed on the back, set on a rigid bed, and finished with movement joints to minimise the risk of debonding.

Drainage & compliance (SuDS-aware)

Good drainage is engineered in from the outset. Falls are set with laser levels to move water away from buildings and towards safe discharge points, while linear channels with silt traps collect runoff efficiently. Where appropriate, we integrate soakaways or permeable sub-bases to align with SuDS best practice and reduce surface pooling. We also guide you through local requirements—highlighting when impermeable areas over 5 m² may need planning permission—and advise on the dropped kerb and vehicle crossover process with the highways authority, so your driveway looks right, performs well and meets the rules.

Finish & detailing

A great driveway is defined by its finishing touches. We set clean lines, tight joints and accurate edges to achieve a smooth, professional finish that looks purposeful from the kerb and up close. Practical details are built in from the start: recessed manhole covers to keep patterns uninterrupted, safe and tidy step nosings, neatly resolved thresholds, and discreet provision for lighting conduit and EV-charger cabling where needed. To preserve the appearance over time, we specify colour-stable resins and quality sealers that resist UV exposure, oil staining and winter salts, helping your surface stay sharper and easier to maintain.

Aftercare made simple

Resin-bound surfaces respond well to a gentle jet-wash and mild cleaners; harsh solvents aren’t necessary, and prompt spot-treatment keeps stains from setting. Block paving benefits from periodic re-sand and re-joint to keep the surface locked, with optional sealing if you want extra stain resistance. Imprinted concrete maintains its depth of colour and protection when resealed every three to five years, with intervals adjusted for sun and traffic exposure. Fresh tarmac should be treated sensibly in its early life—avoid tight steering and fuel spills—after which only light maintenance is usually required. Porcelain patios are straightforward to care for: the rigid bedding and appropriate grout keep edges crisp, while routine cleaning preserves slip resistance and appearance.
